Delta Air Lines Shares Why They Choose 48in48

This year we are expanding our efforts to give nonprofits new websites in cities across the world including Atlanta, Boston, London, New York and Raleigh/Durham. We have turned what was originally a 48 hour experiment into a global display of social entrepreneurship.

How you ask? We have done it with the support of countless volunteers and incredible sponsors, like our presenting sponsor Delta Air Lines.

Delta sponsors 48in48 because they believe in helping the helpers. Their support has helped the organization to build websites for more than 400 nonprofits since 2015. In 2018 alone, we will build websites for 288 nonprofits. But the support doesn’t stop at websites. Nonprofits learn how to leverage their website and digital marketing tools to have a greater impact on their community. We help them put those resources in place. Each nonprofit is involved in the production process so they are equipped to reach their desired audience and become an even stronger catalyst for the change they envision.

Delta has been a continual source of sponsorship support. The company has provided teams and judges for the annual Atlanta event since 2015, they provided judges for the NYC event since its inception in 2016, and they provided judges in Minneapolis and Boston in 2017. Here is what two Delta Air Lines team members share about their individual experiences as 48in48 project managers:

Contributing to the Community as a Team

Kelly Stevens helped build three nonprofit websites with her team over the course of 48 hours.

“I am from Atlanta, so being able to give back to a community that gave to me is really important. I see these nonprofits come in. They are doing so much for the communities. It is the least that I can do to help them contribute.”

Identifying a Nonprofit They’re Passionate About

Sarah Fields helped build three nonprofit websites with her team over the course of 48 hours. One of the nonprofits really stood out to her: She Will an organization that helps girls become more financially literate, empowered and prepared with career skills.

“It’s really exciting for me because that is something I am passionate about. Now I get the chance to work with the nonprofit and help them build the business.”

Finding the Right Partner

“At Delta Air Lines, we love supporting 48in48. It’s a perfect intersection for the tech community to come together to build websites for nonprofits.” said Tad Hutcheson, Delta’s Managing Director of Community Engagement and 48in48 Atlanta Judge “They’re doing good, and now 48in48 is making them look good. So it’s a perfect place for Delta Air LInes. We encourage others to get involved as well.”

Thank you to Delta Air Lines for their continued support! We are so grateful for the great impact we are making since 2015 with their partnership.
