What is Neighbor in Need Scottdale?
Neighbor in Need Scottdale helps low-income senior homeowners with no-cost, professional repairs so they can remain safely in their homes in the Scottdale, Georgia area. Neighbor in Need Scottdale started after Jamie Cooper noticed that one of her elderly neighbors needed assistance. Realizing that there were no programs in their community that could provide that kind of assistance, Jamie reached out to her friend who runs Neighbor in Need Inc, the Scottdale parent organization, in East Lake.
What events are coming up?
Neighbor in Need Scottdale is fundraising right now for their 2022 year. They have a goal of $25,000 which will translate to helping 10 seniors in need in their community. As a new Nonprofit, they are focused on getting the word out about their mission and scaling their operations throughout the year. They are working with a local artist who makes home signs, and Neighbor in Need Scottdale is selling them through their new website, alongside mugs and tshirts, to help reach their fundraising goals.
Another way they are fundraising is through local mom and pop shops donating and in exchange, they are featured on the Neighbor in Need Scottdale social media and newsletter. Jamie shared how useful the website has been for them. It is very advantageous to be able to direct people who want to know more about their organization to their website, which has their volunteer forms, donation page, and event information all in one place. Jamie also shared that she felt having a website lends to the legitimacy of accepting donations rather than just asking someone for a Venmo payment.
“I was pretty blown away by the process being amazing. I think overall it was such a good experience, and the idea of enabling nonprofit organizations with this technology and being able to offer high level services to those who need it is such a good idea.”
