State Farm Event Recap

We want to give a huge round of applause to State Farm® for helping 48in48 pull off another amazing Virtual Corporate Event! It felt so good to be back in action helping Nonprofit groups tell their stories through brand new websites.

On the weekend of September 11th to 13th, over 70 volunteers gathered remotely to build eight new websites for participating non-profit groups. The volunteers represented the four State Farm hub cities of Atlanta, Bloomington, Dallas, and Phoenix. We thank all the volunteers, including the amazing State Farm planning committee and State Farm event project managers, Emily Schnieder (Bloomington) and Glenn Austin (Phoenix).

Of course, we couldn’t have accomplished our mission without passionate collaboration from the Nonprofit groups themselves. We salute these organizations for their participation in this virtual event:

We would love for you to visit all the new sites to see what these amazing volunteers were able to accomplish in just one weekend, but we especially want you to check out our top three prize winners as judged by State Farm employees Jeff Sharpe – Phoenix,  Harolyn Watts – Dallas, Ritesh Saraf – Bloomington and Todd Steinemann – Atlanta.

The Third Place winner is Team !SCHELL SHOCKED! for their site for Atlanta Court Appointed Special Advocates. Bringing home Second Place is TEAM AWESOME! for their work on the Back to School Alliance site. Last but not least, the First Place winner is The Quarantine Defenders team for their work on Prevention Now’s powerful new website

As you can see from the official team photos, all the volunteers brought a lot of passion, energy and fun to this hard working weekend. Let’s give a special shout out to Saturday Night Divas and Thunder Chicken who tied for first place in the team photo competition.

You can also check out these YouTube and Facebook videos from the event to see how the teams kept it fun despite being fully virtual.

Once again we want to thank State Farm and all our amazing volunteers for making this event possible and keeping the 48in48 mission alive in these trying times. We can’t wait to do it all again!
