2022 IBM Volunteer Excellence Award Winners

Over the years, these volunteers have partnered with 48in48 to reach new milestones. For example, IBM volunteers supported 48in48’s desire to “go global” and were also the first group of volunteers to pilot a virtual event with 48in48 in 2020.

Under the leadership of this 6-person team of IBM volunteers, IBMers from across the enterprise are involved in this volunteer initiative. In fact, IBM brings the most volunteers of any organization annually to 48in48 events. These IBM volunteers play key roles on event planning committees to organize and run the 48in48 initiatives. The IBMiX team and Distinguished Designers participate as volunteer judges for 48in48 events. IBM volunteers also reach across the enterprise to find relevant leaders to serve as speakers for each event on topics such as DEI, Women in Leadership, Global Connectivity, Digital Inclusion, and more. IBMers from around the world participate on build teams for 48in48 events, with roles ranging from Project Management, WordPress Development, Content Development, UX/UI Design, Digital Marketing, and more.

In 2022 alone, IBM volunteers contributed 7,647 volunteer hours to 48in48 and created 41 new websites for nonprofits. Over the last seven years volunteering with 48in48, IBM volunteers have built 222 websites for nonprofits, worth $5.5M in giveback to the community.
