Co-founder Adam Walker has joined the 48in48 staff

Hi, I’m Adam and as of January 1st, 2018 I went from being the co-founder and self-proclaimed “lead volunteer” of 48in48 to being on staff. I have to say, 48in48 has grown in ways, and at a speed, Jeff and I would have never expected when we started this journey in 2015. We started with a simple idea, to engage the Atlanta professional marketing community and get them to help build an insane number of websites in one weekend. I can still remember waking up in a panic over and over leading up to that first event and in the middle of the night trying to figure out how we could pull off building 48 websites in 48 hours.

Then, we did it! Moving into year two, we brought on our first staff member, Carole, in 2016. Carole led, and grew the team from a team of one to an elite team of three and helped us take 48in48 from 1 city to 4 cities over the course of two years.

At the end of last year, when we looked at our goal to get to 48 cities internationally by 2025, and a few things became apparent. The most obvious of them was that we would need more funds to be able to scale at the rate we want to scale. So, moving into 2018 it made sense for Carole take on the role of Director of Development (the nonprofit world’s term for fundraising) to do just that. As a part of that transition, I have stepped in as Executive Director with the primary goal of figuring out how to get 48in48 ready to scale very quickly.

I couldn’t be happier to be a part of such a great organization and a great team, and I’m learning a lot in the process. I’m proud of the job that Carole has done to grow 48in48 so quickly and am thankful that in 2018 she will have the opportunity to help us grow even faster with her new area of focus. I expect that with the help of Delta Air Lines and our other great sponsors, 2018 will be an important staging year for 48in48 where we will smooth over the bumpy spots in our processes, grow the team, and pursue our vision to be the global catalyst for marketing and technology volunteerism.
