World Wide Win! 2021 Global Volunteerism Recap

Kudos and thanks to everyone who made our 2021 Global Volunteerism event possible. What a fantastic way to wrap up our 2021 schedule of events.

No matter how many events we have, witnessing what’s possible when talented, skilled and motivated volunteers get together is always exhilarating.

The fact that a group of people in Atlanta were able to gather and share in the happy chaos live and in person for the first time in two years, made this event even more special.

We’re excited to show you the sites selected as the best of the best, but first…

We Fit a Lot Into One Weekend

Here are just some of our key stats from the build event.

37 Sites Built

Plus 4 Nonprofit Impact Labs

Thanks to 250 Volunteers

Working from 7 Countries

Across 9 Time Zones

Plus, we piloted our hybrid event model with a small group of volunteers at a space donated by the Crowne Plaza Ravinia Atlanta with meals donated by The Honey Baked Ham Company and Chick-fil-A. Although participation was limited, we experienced some of the pre-pandemic 48in48 event behaviors – we worked, we laughed and we built new relationships in person again!

Special Shout Outs

First, let’s give a huge thank you to our event sponsors. We could not possibly hold a successful event without these exceptional partners: Verizon, State Farm, Cox, KMS Technology, IBM, IHG, Dagger, Elastihost and Danger Press.

Next, we want to recognize our Program Directors, Emily Schnieder and Daniel Dartnell for their commitment to 48in48 and service to nonprofits for multiple events and years.

We also want to thank our Planning Committee Leads: Kelieigh Harris from State Farm and NYU Student, Katrina Chan.

And we couldn’t forget our field generals that kept the entire event running smoothly all weekend, our Event Project Managers: Sara Loretta, Tara Hayman, Carrie Englebrecht, Rooth Blackman, Danay Fernandez and Sanaya Khambatta.

Celebrating Team Spirit

Teamwork and collaboration are what 48in48 build events are all about. Often times, teams are made up of 5 or 6 people who have never met before, but who instantly come together to achieve a common goal – and seem to have a lot of fun in the process.

Here are the most creative team names from this event.
